TestDaF
The TestDaF (Test of German as a Foreign Language) is a standardized exam that provides internationally recognized proof of German proficiency — primarily for admission to German universities.
Exam sections
- Reading comprehension: understanding different types of written texts.
- Listening comprehension: understanding spoken German in a variety of situations.
- Written expression: producing a structured, argumentative piece of writing.
- Spoken expression: responding verbally to everyday and academic scenarios.
Scoring
Each section is scored on one of three proficiency levels — TDN 3, TDN 4, or TDN 5. Most German universities require at least TDN 4 across all four sections for admission.
