Language
German Proficiency (C2)
C2 is the highest level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Reaching it means operating in the language almost as fluently as a native speaker.
What C2 means in practice
- Understanding demanding, lengthy texts — including implicit meaning and cultural nuance.
- Speaking spontaneously and precisely on virtually any topic, without needing to search for words.
- Writing well-structured, detailed texts on complex subjects.
- Flexibly adapting register and tone to formal, informal, academic, or literary contexts.
This level is often expected in academic or professional settings — working on international teams, doing research, or studying at a German-speaking university, for example.
